The Heart of a Hero

 North-Vancouver-Lions-Winter_preview

The sky is gray

The wind blows south

From far away

I can see a shadow

That moves alone

I can hear an echo

Repeating a tone

Sad and slow

Far and low

The shadow draws near

Still not clear

Then a rider emerges

Through the darkness

Through the dust

His eyes are closed

His hands are open

His chest is broken

His heart is sliced

Yet he strides

Towards the sun

Leaving behind

A trail of blood

A shade of red

The heart of a hero!

Can’t be defeated

It pounds the song

Of freedom along

The shores of pain

The heart of a hero

Is that of a child

The will of a hero

Is that of an Eagle

The body shall die

The soul flies high

And the hero remains

The hope of a child

The might of a mountain

And the vastness

 Of an ocean
