Black Clouds

The clouds are black

The rain is back

I feel off track

I need some slack

We search for hope

We struggle to cope

To smile, to please

To look at ease

Like frozen peas

The hearts are cold

Young and old

The path is long

You’ve got to be

You’ve got to stay

We need some light

It’s dark despite

The daylight

The souls are sore

They cannot soar

They cannot roar

They ask: What for?

Everyone wants more

Yet less is more

The path is long

I am not strong

I always long

For the child I was

How calm, how strong

He was alone

In a strange land

He chose to be

A stranger

He left me alone

He couldn’t stay

He doesn’t sway

Off he went

And I have spent

Everything left

We both once had

Of happiness, of peace

In a strange land

Far away and sad

The rain is back

No path, no track

Get wet, get soaked

And that was that!
