What’s Left?

Look right, look left

What is left?

An empty nest

Pain in the chest

Can you rest?

Can you predict?

What’s next?

Life has lost

Its zest

They’re gone

East and west

The sun has set

Can’t fail the test

Go do your best

I can attest

To the rest

You are alone

Search for hope

Change the tone

Catch some rope

Answer the phone

Learn to cope

Wait for the dawn

Stop pretending!

Stop sustaining

Stop going

Your strength

Has a length

Has some depth

You’ve used it

All up

Hang on tight

To that rope

You just caught

Open your eyes

See the light

Open your heart

Start the fight

With all your might

Look right, look left

Nothing’s left

Fail the test

You’ve done your best

But you can’t rest

In an empty nest…
