Darkness falls

By late September

The trees shed

Some of their leaves

In preparation

For winter

Has a season

All creatures

Get ready

For the change

Without thinking!

They just know

Except one

That being

Hardly notices

The transition

All around

Is he blind?

Or is he obsessed

With something else?

Or maybe he’s so dense

In a sense

That he refuses

To play any part

In the symphony

Of seasons

What’s keep him aside?

Why does he hide?

No answer!

Just wonder

The symphony

Doesn’t stop

For him

It’s on a strict plan

No one can

Alter that plan

It flows like a river

Flow with it

Let it take you

To a new land

Enjoy it

Let it carry you

On its wings

You shall be glad

You did…

  1. Great fall poem. Just interviewd a Griot from Africa, keeper of the wisdom, the stories. When asked what he thinks of the state of the world, he said it is going backwards and humans are to blame. They need to slow down, see nature and the seasons. The interview as phoned in from New York, Montreal and in English, Spanish and Frence. THis poem reminds me of what he said on the radio a couple of hours ago.

    • Thanks!

I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I wasn’t feeling like writing anything today. Then, I found myself starting something. It developed into this poem.

Our ancestors used to be tuned to the rhythm of the Universe. We’re now disconnected, from each other, and from our environment at large! Part of that is attributed to technology, but another part is coming from inside; from allowing the ego to run the show. Making us driven by desire and fear, rather than peace and true fulfillment…
